For 67 seasons the Houston Cougars played at Robertson Stadium. In 2010 the University of Houston announced plans to renovate or reconstruct Robertson Stadium. In 2012 the Board of Regents approved plans to demolish Robertson Stadium and construct a new stadium on the same site. Construction of the new stadium began in 2013 forcing the Cougars to play at Reliant Stadium that season.
Named TDECU Stadium, the Houston Cougars played their first game here on August 30, 2014 against the UTSA Roadrunners. The stadium has a seating capacity of 40,000 that includes 25 luxury suites and 766 club seats. It also has four party patios and two open-air suite decks. Texas Dow Employees Credit Union purchased the naming rights to the stadium in July 2014.
