Originally built as a baseball stadium, the Cramton Bowl is home to one of the newest college bowl games, the Raycom Media Camellia Bowl. The stadium opened in 1929 as a baseball stadium after F.J. Cramton donated the land and raised $33,000 for construction. Original capacity was 7,991 and the stadium has been expanded several times during its history and currently seats 21,000 fans.

The stadium was the baseball Spring Training home of the Philadelphia Athletics for two seasons in 1923 and 1924. It was served as the home of several Minor League baseball teams until the 1940s. The Alabama Crimson Tide played 20 games at the Cramton Bowl from 1922 until 1954. It has hosted many other collegiate and high school football games. In 2014 it will be home to the Camellia Bowl, matching teams from the MAC and Sun Belt conferences.
